How to Use Tweet Cloud For Your Twitter Account

Posted @ 8:16 PM on March 6, 2010 by Tweeter

If you already have set up your Tweet cloud page, remember to pay close attention to the text on your profile bio that describes who you are and what you do. Ensure that there is a link to your website and make sure that your website is attractive and provide valuable information. For example Captivate Designs provide web design services, so it’s highlighted in my bio. It is important to remember that when potential customers take the time to read your bio, they want information that is interesting and helpful that will prompt them to visit your website or learn more about you.

Just like forums or blogs, you need to demonstrate that you are the expert, but you also don’t want to be too promotional. Provide expert opinions, directions and suggestions but also add in non business related tweets that’s not just all about you. Review tweets, or use the search engine to find tweets and be willing to offer bits of information or advice for free.

You can also do what is called re-tweeting. Re-tweeting is where you can repost a tweet from someone else. If you find a tweet that you consider to be of value to your followers, you can simply re-tweet this information on your page. The accepted way of re-tweeting is to type ‘RT’ followed by @ and the tweeter’s username.

All in all, Tweet cloud is a great tool that can expand your reach to customers and potential customers. It allows you to stay in touch and connect with people instantly. It can help drive your brand and communicate with customers in a way that you have never done before. Think about it? Never before have you been able to reach American Consumers by Millions in such a personal and one on one basis until the phenomenon of the tweet cloud website.

12 tips of Christmas – A safer Twitter for 2010

Posted @ 1:07 PM on March 6, 2010 by Tweeter

As we roll into the holiday season and many of us are taking more time away from work to spend with our families, we inevitably geek out. We have more time to read blogs, play video games, and reach out to our friends. Many of us use social networks to keep in touch and plan outings and parties. I thought I would share some tips with you on the safest way to use Twitter to keep in touch without falling victim to the many crooks targeting social networks.

12 apps OAuthing – For Twitter statistics, analysis, or alternative web interfaces, stick with OAuth-based applications. OAuth is a secure method of allowing application developers to access your Twitter information. Applications using OAuth will redirect you to Twitter to confirm the application’s request for access to your account. Websites that directly ask for Twitter credentials are often well-disguised phishing attempts. 11 snoopers snooping – Treat the tweet-o-sphere as if you were standing in a pub. Don’t disclose personal details that could be used to impersonate, track, or allow unnecessary contact. If you were in a pub and a stranger asked “Where do you live?” you wouldn’t likely respond “2000 Main St., Apartment B.” Instead, you might say “the East side.” 10 tweeps a-stalking – If you are comfortable being tracked by friends, family, stalkers, and governments, then by all means continue to post your GPS coordinates. Many mobile Twitter applications can post your position within a few feet using the GPS in your phone and these are on by default. I recommend that everyone disable this feature. Always explore the options menu in Twitter applications you are using. 9 careful retweetings – Don’t blindly retweet links. Always thoroughly check out a link before sending it on. Many spam attacks are socially engineered tweets that depend on blind retweeting to gather more users into the scam. 8 scammers bilking – Be wary of Direct Messages from those you don’t know. Many users fall victim to phishing attacks every day and their accounts are often used to lure you to scam-laden URLs. These accounts will send you DMs with shortened links that could be malicious. 7 links a-lengthening – When shortening URLs, use a service that lets other users easily preview where they are going. Many companies offering these services do provide ways for users to automatically expand URLs, including Bit.ly (Or add a plus sign on the end of the URL), TinyURL, and is.gd. 6 so-called deletings – Delete doesn’t mean it’s gone. You can now delete tweets, but unlike emails, they cannot be rescinded. Deleted tweets may no longer show up in your timeline, but the message will have been delivered to mobile phones over SMS and to third-party Twitter clients that will not forget your indiscretions. 5 not-so-private tweets – As with Facebook, privacy on Twitter is not so private. Protecting your tweets provides a degree of security, but you still rely on your friends to avoid falling victim to a scam. Hackers depend on the trust we have for our friends and family and will use their accounts to gather your most personal details. 4 friend impersonations – Be wary of Direct Messages from your friends if they seem out of context. As with random DMs, you may wish to check the shortened link at longurls.org. When my friends send me DMs like “Increase your followers by 4000%!”, I know that it’s time to pick up the phone and let them know they have been compromised. 3 @spam alarms – Follow @spam for recommendations and alerts related to Twitter scams. Don’t click links in emails appearing to be from Twitter either, always use a client, or the twitter.com website directly to confirm followers, reply to DM’s, etc. 2 password changes – If you feel your password may have been compromised change your password immediately. What is less obvious is that you must also revoke access to the Twitter API for any applications you are using and re-register them. If the criminals who have stolen your credentials still have API access they can continue to impersonate you. And avoiding those fake celebrities – Verify the identities of people you follow where possible. If you are following a company (like Sophos!) or a celebrity, you can often find their real twitter ID on their website. There are more than 50 variants of Britney Spears, many of which are scams.

What Should Your Tweets on Twitter Be About?

Posted @ 11:02 PM on March 5, 2010 by Tweeter

Figuring out what to tweet about on Twitter requires considering your overall Internet marketing plan.

For example, if you are trying to increase the traffic to your blog about books, you may decide to focus on tweeting links to news items related to book publishing and book marketing along with the links to your own blog posts. In this way you are establishing yourself as an expert in the book field by both the links you share and the original content you write.

Now let’s take this example a little further. You may decide to sell an ebook on publishing off your website on which your blog also resides. You may begin to add into your tweet mix occasional announcements about this ebook.

There’s a range of opinions as to how many of your tweets should be what’s called “self-serving” – promoting your own products or services – and how many should be informational or conversational or whatever.

Let’s say, though, that you do not yet have a blog or a website or a business of any kind that you want to promote.

What to tweet about in this case? Do you have any hobbies or interests?

Perhaps you are an advocate for a green environment. Then you could tweet information that you want to share about going green, such as links to books, news articles, and blog posts. You can add your opinions about the articles you are linking to in order to personalize your tweets.

You are establishing a brand for yourself even though you made never use that brand in connection with business. Still, you have a starting point from which to morph into a new brand if that’s what you decide to do.

Even before you get on Twitter you should decide what to tweet about. Will you be emphasizing your political views (an arena in which you want to be careful that your tweets do not come back to bite you) or your gardening interests?

Once you have made this decision, you can use Twitter’s own search capabilities or a third-party application such as tweetbeep.com to alert you when there are tweets connected to the topics on which you tweet. Then you can jump into the conversation and reply to people who are tweeting about these topics.

You can also follow Twitter lists that are on subjects of interest to you in order to easily track tweets connected to your topics.

As you participate more and more on Twitter, you will begin to follow people whose tweets you find especially valuable. You can study their tweets in order to decide which tweets you think are most effective in attracting followers. Then you can emulate the patterns you uncover.

Warning: Whatever you do, do NOT tweet in anger or use swear words or viciously attack someone. This is not proper etiquette and can quickly lose many of the followers you worked so hard to get – if not getting you kicked off Twitter.

3 Recruiting Tools for Targeted Tweets on Twitter

Posted @ 10:15 PM on March 4, 2010 by Tweeter

Recruiters are jumping into the world of tweeting at an amazingly astonishing rate. At such speed most will forget to create a plan and as a result leave themselves highly vulnerable to irreversible reputation damage.

Before posting tweets by the dozen it is important to answer some critical questions.

Are all my tweets relevant to each of my followers?

Do I understand that my tweets are search engine friendly and can be permanent?

Are any of my tweets potentially damaging to me or my company?

Am I considered a spammer?

If you’re an avid reader of my blog (Andre Condurache Blog) you will know that I enjoy reviewing new recruitment technology, therefore I have found 5 innovative twitter applications that can help recruiters make their tweets less “spammy” and more targeted in turn helping them with their sourcing objectives.

Tweetizen is one of my favorite applications for filtering your followers via interests and groups.

What I found really useful is the ability to create a list of keywords and/or hashtags and then filter tweets based on this list.

For example, if I was sourcing Java Developers I could streamline my tweets based on keywords that are being used by potential candidates. At the same time I could use this feature for business development, for example by identifying employers posting jobs through Twitter that are also related to my chosen keywords.

The application also allows you to embed the filtered stream on another webpage, thus giving you the ability to share information on your careers website or blog. This is more effective when compared to the standard widget found directly from Twitter.com which displays every single tweet you post and receive.

Hot To Start – Step 1: Login to Tweetizen.com and click on the link that says Create Group. Make sure to select Your Interest when prompted with the pop up window – this will give you the option to filter by keywords and/or hashtags

How To Start – Step 2: After you have selected Your Interests click on Advanced Options. You can now enter keywords that are relevant to your industry or market. I have chosen to target Java Developers therefore I have created some keywords related to this candidate market.

Another Twitter application similar to Tweetizen is Filttr. However, I found Filttr to be slightly more feature-rich and powerful in its overall functionality.

One thing that I liked about Filttr is a feature that enables you to prioritize your followers by the tweets they post. For example, if an employer posts a tweet about a new job opening I will be able to increase the number of tweets I receive from that person making it easier to keep an eye out for new vacancies. At the same time I can also decrease tweets from people I place at lower priority.

Another very useful feature is the ability to attach documents and files to your tweets which is great if you are trying to send out detailed job descriptions or brochures/proposals to potential employers.

How To Start – Step 1: With Filttr you can first begin by prioritizing the tweets you receive. You can either do this from the Settings area (shown below) or as you receive individual tweets.

How To Start – Step 2: Filttr has a very advanced keyword filtering tool. You have a lot of options (as shown below) and you also have the option of creating groups of keywords (or Aliases as Filttr likes to call them)

TweetWorks is probably the simplest application for filtering tweets. With TweetWorks you can create public and private groups.

One distinctive advantage of creating private groups is the ability to filter outgoing tweets and only communicate with group members. This can work to your advantage if you want to generate more referrals, as private conversations tend to be more effective for relationship building.

How To Start – Step 1: Only one simple step with TweetWorks!

Twitter for cash; Keeping those customers

Posted @ 7:04 PM on March 4, 2010 by Tweeter

So, you must  know about Twitter, the latest booming social network phenomena. If you don’t I am presuming you are surfing the web, somehow, from the moon or under a rock. You might have created an account. Let’s say you have even picked up some followers and you finally have in your mind a message or a product you want to push.

The thing I like about Twitter as a marketing tool is that it forces you to be concise in your message by definition, remember you are working with just 140 characters to get your point across. Anyone who can waffle in that space just hasn’t thought through their key idea or vision!

That difficult bit is keeping people following, listening and interested in your messages – and I think there is a key to this.
Have you ever been to a football game and been in that terrible position of being next to the guy banging the drum? The pounding is relentless. It goes on and on and on.. Soon it is impossible to focus on what you are watching, or anything at all.

Now think about that in a marketing way.  If all you do is bang a drum, loudly and without any subtlety, you just give people a headache and they might start to resent you.

I say “get to give”. If you have followers, give them more thn just your pitch. If something special has happened to you, something hilarious, or heart warming, I say let them know. Most people would rather deal with another person than an apparent machine.

The other aspect of “get to give” is looking at ways to reward your followers. Why not come up with a get together or maybe offer them a discount? The computer giants Dell cut prices for their Twitter community. The reward they got was a handsome $1mn in sales.

Remember that behind every PC is a person and your chances of making money will only increase.

How To Tweet On Twitter

Posted @ 5:38 PM on March 4, 2010 by Tweeter

Tweeters from around the globe want to learn tips on how to become a better tweeter in Twitter. How will you do this?

To begin with, you might want to find out tips on how to ‘re-tweet’. It is easy to definitely improve your standing in Twitter if you re-tweet. When one of your followers posts a fascinating article, you can re-tweet it. If you do this, the majority of your followers will also do the same. Just imagine all your followers re-tweeting. After they add your username to their updates, you’ll be exposed to many users. Be careful in re-tweeting because you might not be posting interesting or helpful topics. Make sure that you re-tweet only the good ones. How can you re-tweet? You’ll want to copy the original tweet and write the prefix RT together with the name of the originator.

Many users use Twitter to post tweets that nobody is interested about. Who cares about what you ate for dinner or what you did last night. Perhaps your closest friends will appreciate that but what about the rest of the social community? It would be better if you send out informative tweets, no nonsense. By doing so, people will think of you differently. They’ll know and feel that you care one way or another. If you’re addressing your tweets to one person, try to indicate it so that others will know who you are referring to.

Send replies often. Talking all day long is possible through Twitter. If you want to talk, you’d better sign up to this social site. Followers like a person who knows tips on how to listen. You will probably find yourself laughing at dumb tweets but you must restrain yourself. Twitter is an application that allows people to communicate; so matter how funny some tweets sound, try to appreciate them and reply courteously. Almost all of Twitter users want to be heard on the web and if they find individuals who know how you can listen, they are more interested in making friends.

In order to tweet better, you must be proactive. Find some neat articles and helpful info online; when you find one, post it. Some might re-tweet it or you can find other users that are interested in meeting you.

You don’t need to say something all the time. Try to be careful in using your automatic messages and updates because you might be pestering others with uninteresting info. It is easy to also try using hashtags. The keywords are preceded by # and in the past months, hashtags are really hot.

Use the tool Twitpic to upload pictures to your profile page. Try to upload as many pictures as you’ll be able to but choose your pics well. Your pictures can tell a lot about you and other users will appreciate. Through the pics, your followers can get to know you better. According to expert tweeters, pictures can tell a lot about you as compared to the posts to send.

Follow these tips and be a better tweeter. Why not? You have nothing to lose. If you’re in new in Twitter, these tips can be very helpful. Don’t waste time anymore. Share neat stuff to your followers and your friends. Find interesting information or perhaps post promotional materials.

How to Use Twitter to Get a Re-Tweet

Posted @ 12:07 PM on March 4, 2010 by Tweeter

After quickly becoming one of the top social networking sites online discussions just as quickly turned to how to use twitter to grow a business. The micro-blogging site allows twitter users messages up to 140 characters in length forcing members to say more with fewer words.

Your effectiveness in using this site for the purpose of growing a business is based upon the number of people you have direct access to. On Twitter this is measured in terms of the number of ‘followers’ you have.

The fastest way to increase your twitter following is to be ‘awarded’ the coveted ‘re tweet’ Essentially this is nothing more than having one of your ‘tweets’ repeated around the site. For this to happen you must tweet something others may think is interesting for whatever reason. They then in turn will ‘re tweet’ what you said to their own twitter following. If their followers think it is interesting enough they will follow you.

Here are 5 factors that play a major role in whether or not you will get a re tweet.

Time Your Tweets

There are particular times of the day and even days of the week when twitter users most heavily populate the site. It is at these times that you want to release your ‘best’ tweets. Research indicates that Friday is a very heavy user day and that the afternoon up till midnight and on weekends is when the site experiences the most activity.

Personalize Your Tweets

When tweeting something you think is ‘retweetable’ personalize it with the appearance of speaking directly to the individual. Addressing members by using the word ‘you’ tends to draw their attention more readily to the tweet. Using a word in such a way helps to better ‘engage’ readers since it appears to be directed at them.

Refer to Trending Topics

If you are looking to get your comments repeated on Twitter it only makes sense to choose a topic that is popular. By simply referring to the trending topics on the site you can easily see what the current ‘hot’ topics are. This is a very effective way to increase your re tweets and twitter following.

Insert a Link

Since tweets are limited to only 140 characters it can be a challenge to stir the attention of other twitter users sending a message so short in length. Now however if your message was to refer to a more extensive and intriguing piece of content you would likely capture more attention.

By linking to a site or content in your tweet you are increasing the curiosity of others to click on and view it. Linking in this way also allows you to send a message or tweet that is more comprehensive and carries a bigger impact than a mere 140 character tweet.

Obviously due to the character limitations of the site you always want to shorten your links. This also gives you more characters to use for the message in your tweet.

Avoid Overexposure

Do not make a habit of frequently using links in your tweets since people will not associate as much importance to them if they see so many. Save your links for only that content that is worth being re tweeted.

Learning how to use twitter to grow an online business has become a quest for many looking for shortcuts to wealth. Being one of the top social networking sites on the internet Twitter does present enormous potential for traffic if harvested correctly. Having a strong twitter following however is a prerequisite to having the ability to attract a significant amount of traffic from this site. One of the quickest ways to grow your following is by getting others to re tweet your comments. The 3 factors discussed here today will play a large role in your ability to get your comments repeated to others on the site. Simply paying attention to these factors and of course having something to say of interest will greatly increase your chances of gaining a re tweet. What you do with your new found twitter following is then up to you.

The Social Network Business Plan: 18 Strategies That Will Create Great Wealth

Posted @ 8:37 PM on March 3, 2010 by Tweeter

Product Description
All of us know that users of the Web do not read advertisements on the websites we visit, yet the online communities are emerging as the next great media rely solely on this method to produce revenue. In The Social Network Business Plan, social network expert, David Silver presents and explains 18 cutting-edge methods to create revenue for social network websites–none of which are advertising. He also predicts the demise of seemingly successful online communities such as MySpace and Facebook that rely on advertising as non-sustainable modalities. Silver describes and explains that in the future new products and services will be introduced, talked about, rated, reviewed and recommended – or killed – by online communities. One example of the 18 new revenue channels that online communities are adopting is the sale to vendors of anonymized conversations of the community members concerning those vendors’ products or services. Another example is online communities who partner with the internet providers to receive payment when a particular online community’s information is downloaded usinf that providers service. The other sixteen revenue channels are equally head-turning!

Silver is the only angel investor, operating down where the rubber meets the road, who is investing in online communities in their infancy, and writing about which ones will win and which ones will fail.
